OXFORD, Miss. -- The Delta State University softball team fell to the University of Montevallo 13-1 on Friday afternoon.
The Falcons scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Lady Statesmen scored their only run of the game in the bottom of fifth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montevallo got on the board after two singles and a double brought in two runs. The Falcons also added a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 in the first inning.
- In the top of the second, two more hits and an error allowed another three runs to cross the plate for Montevallo.
- The fourth inning gave Montevallo another run with a triple and a single.
- The Falcons scored six runs in the top of the fifth after DSU committed two errors and gave up a grand slam.
- The lone run for the Lady Statesmen came in the bottom of the fifth when Taylor Picou drove in Jenny Griggers.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Lacey Coats started for the Lady Statesmen she went two innings and gave up six runs on five hits. Only three of her runs were earned.
- Hannah Hasle threw three innings of relief and gave up seven runs on seven hits. Hasle only yielded one earned run.
- Mychael McMillan earned the win for Montevallo. She went three innings, struck out six, and gave up three hits.
- Kaitlyn Flugga went two innings in relief and gave up an unearned run.
