Statesmen Fall 75-65 In Season-Finale at UAH

HUNTSVLLE, Ala. -- Airen Brooks poured in 26 points including going 8-for-14 from three-point territory, but the Delta State University men's basketball team fell to the University of Alabama Huntsville 75-65 in the season finale on Saturday.

STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Statesmen started the game making 6-of-10 3-pointers to take a 22-17 lead with 13:42 left in the first half. 
  • Airen Brooks scored 17 points, connecting on 5-of-8 3-point field goals, in the first half. 
  • Delta State made 11-of-25 attempts from beyond the arc in the opening half. 
  • Trailing 38-35 with 2:21 to go the first half, Delta State closed with an 8-2 run to take a 43-40 lead at halftime. 
  • Delta State held a 49-46 lead before a 16-4 UAH run gave the Chargers a 62-53 advantage with under 10 minutes remaining in the second half. 
  • Brooks and Kelen Dietrich made two 3-pointers apiece to supply a 12-3 and cut the UAH lead to 67-65 at the 3:11 mark of the second half. 
  • UAH used an 8-0 run to stretch the lead back out to the final score of 75-65. 
  • Brooks finished with eight threes to tie his season-high of 26 points. 
  • Dietrich added 18 points, and Lee Cotton had 12 points. 
  • Malik Cartwright grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. 
  • UAH out-rebounded the Statesmen 37-26 and had 11 offensive boards.
