Lady Statesmen Sweep Twin Bill From Arkansas-Monticello

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Solid performances in the circle from Lacey Coates and Hannah Hasle helped Delta State University sweep a softball doubleheader from Arkansas-Monticello on Wednesday at University Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 1
  • Karly Bloesch lined a home run to right field with Raegan Stafford on base to give the Lady Statesmen a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
  • The Cotton Blossoms cut the lead to 2-1 on a Hannah Holdbrook double in the third.
  • Four runs crossed the plate for the Lady Statesmen in the fourth. MyCala Helms and Chrissy Tubbs had RBI singles and Alana Walker doubled home a run to highlight the inning.
  • An Emily Cecil RBI single trimmed the DSU lead to 6-2 in the sixth.
IN THE CIRCLE | GM 1
  • Lacy Coats (5-4) yielded two runs on seven hits with a career-high nine strikeouts against two walks to earn the win.
  • UAM starter Jamie Franks (7-4) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on two hits with four strikeouts in 2.0 innings pitched.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 2
  • The Lady Statesmen grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Alana Walker scored on a MyCala Helms sacrifice bunt.
  • Chrissy Tubbs tripled home two runs and another run scored on a wild pitch to make the DSU lead 4-0.
  • Summer Perkins' two-run home run cut UAM's deficit to 4-2 in the fifth.

  • Hannah Hasle (3-2) tossed her second complete game of the year, allowing two runs on six hits with a career-high four strikeouts.
  • Kyann Woods (0-3) gave up one run on two hits with a walk as the pitcher of record for UAM.
