Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CARROLLTON, Ga. -- The Delta State University softball team blasted 27 hits in two games and scored 32 runs in the doubleheader sweep over the University of West Georgia on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Statesmen won game one 19-10, which was the most runs scored in a single game since scoring 17 against Union University on March 5, 2016. In game two, Delta State scored 13 more runs to run-rule the Wolves.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 1

• In the top of the third inning, Karley Bloesch hit a bases-clearing double to score three runs.
• Jenny Griggers then got on base via an error that allowed Bloesch to score to give DSU a 4-0 lead in the third.
• Chrissy Tubbs then hit a three-run home run to give Delta State a 7-0 lead in the top of the third inning. It was the second home run of the season for Tubbs. 
• In the bottom of the third, UWG had three singles and then R.J. Janke hit a grand slam to make it a 7-4 game.
• In the top of the fourth, MyCala Helms hit a two-run home run to score Bloesch and give the Lady Statesmen a 9-4 lead.
• Alyssa Branyan was walked with the bases loaded to score Griggers making it 10-4.
• Katelyn Hayman hit a single into left to score Taylor Picou. Tubbs then scored on an error from the left fielder from UWG which made it 12-4.
• Kailyn Lofton hit a single and scored Hayman to make it 13-4 in the top of the fourth.
• Bloesch then hit her second double of the day scoring Alana Walker, and Lofton to make it 15-4.
• UWG hit a two-run home run to make it 15-6 in the bottom of the fourth.
• In the top of the fifth, Tubbs hit a double to score Alyssa Gover and made it 16-6.
• Olivia Burns then hit a three-run home run to score Tubbs and Hannah Walls and made it 19-9.
• In the bottom of the fifth, Janke hit a three-run home run to make it 19-9.
• Jacie Arrington then hjt a solo home run to make it 19-10.
• The Lady Statesmen got a double play to help close out the win. 

IN THE CIRCLE | GAME 1

• Lacey Coats (6-5) got the win going all five innings giving up ten runs on ten hits. She walked two and struck out three batters.
• Macy Ann McKnight (6-6) went three and two-thirds innings giving up 14 runs on 12 hits.
• Kaley Dowdy, in relief, gave up five runs on four hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME 2

• Bloesch hit a single to score Alana Walker to give DSU the first run of the game in the top of the first inning.
• Picou then hit a double to give the Lady Statesmen a 3-0 run after the first half inning.
• In the bottom of the third inning, UWG hit two double to get their only run of the game.
• Lofton hit a three-run home run in the top of the fourth to make it 6-1.
• Three batters later in the fourth, Griggers hit a three-run home run to make it 9-1.
• Walker then reached base on an error and Tubbs scored to make it 10-1.
• In the top of the fifth inning, Picou drove in Helms to make it 11-1.
• Tubbs hit her second home run of the day in the top of the fifth to make it 13-1.

IN THE CIRCLE | GAME 2

• Hannah Hasle (4-2) went five innings and gave up one run on four hits and had one strikeout.
• Emma Worley (1-5) received the loss for UWG. She went three innings given up seven runs on nine hits.
• Kaley Dowdy in relief for UWG, gave up six runs on four hits.

• This was the most runs scored in a single game since scoring 17 against Union University on March 5, 2016.
• Bloesch in game one was 2-for-4 with five RBI.
