HOW IT HAPPENED
- A Sam Ladner RBI double and a run scored on a ground out helped the Wolves grab a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
- Wyatt Pratt singled and later scored when Carson Clowers reached on a throwing error to cut the UWG lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning.
- Collin Moore belted a two-run home run in the third and delivered a two-run single in the fifth to give UWG a 6-1 lead.
- Blayke Dendy singled in Trahan before scoring on a Jake Barlow two-run home run to trail 6-4 in the eighth inning.
- The Statesmen put the leadoff runner on before Ronny Peipmeier got two flyouts and a strikeout to end the game.
ON THE MOUND
- Landon Zizmann (4-1) gave up six runs, five earned, on six hits with two strikeouts and a walk to take the loss.
- Wolves' starter Austyn Wright allowed one run on one hit with four strikeouts and a walk in 3.0 innings of work to earn the win.
- Ronny Pipmeier (4) worked a scoreless ninth with a walk to earn the save.
- Cooper Brune worked three solid innings, scattering three hits with four strikeouts in relief of Zizmann.
NOTABLES
- Chad Ragland, Trahan, Barlow, Dendy, Pratt, and Clowers accounted for the Statesmen's six hits on the afternoon.
- Barlow hit a two-run home run in the eighth for his 39th career blast. The homer put the senior one behind Craig Newton (2002-2005) for fourth on the DSU career home runs chart.
