MONTICELLO, Ark. -- The Delta State University softball team split a doubleheader with the University of Arkansas in Monticello on Tuesday afternoon.
DSU won the first game 2-1 behind
Lacey Coats complete game win. She gave up only four hits while striking out five. It was the ninth complete game for Coats on the season. In game two, the Lady Statesmen lost 2-1, snapping an eight-game win streak.

GAME 1
- In the top of the second inning, Alyssa Branyan drove in Chrissy Tubbs and Katelyn Hayman with a single.
- Grace Neal hit a solo home run for the only run of the game for UAM.
- Delta State out-hit UAM 9-4 in game one.

- Lacey Coats (8-4) earned the complete game win. She gave up four hits and struck out five. It was the ninth complete game for Coats on the year.
- Jamie Franks earned the loss for UAM. She went three innings, giving up two runs on eight hits.
- In relief, Maguire Estill and Kaylan Woods went a combined four innings and only gave up one hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED |
GAME 2
- UAM struck first with a couple of hits and an error to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
- They added a run in the second inning with a double, an error, and a stolen base.
- Jenny Griggers and Taylor Picou each got on base in the fourth but were left stranded.
- Hayman brought home Griggers after an error to plate Delta State's only run in the top of the seventh.

- Hannah Hasle (6-3) was charged with the loss. She went six innings, gave up two runs on two hits, and struck out four.
- UAM used five pitchers in the win. Maddie Chalenburg (2-2) earned the win. She went one inning and gave up an unearned run on two hits. UAM combined for four strikeouts.
NOTABLES
- The loss ended DSU's eight-game win streak which was the longest since a nine-game win streak in 2016.
- Both contests were 2-1 final scores.
- DSU took three out of four games from UAM this season.

Delta State returns to conference play this weekend. The Lady Statesmen will head to Jackson, Tenn. on Saturday, April 2, with a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m.
