CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State University softball team dropped both games of the double header on Tuesday afternoon to Southern Arkansas University.
The Lady Statesmen were shutout in game one and SAU scored six runs in the first inning to pull away in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED |
GAME 1
- Southern Arkansas led the game off with back-to-back solo home runs from Tiare Lee and Jade Miller.
- Delta State got two runners on base in the bottom of the first but could not bring the runners home.
- In the top of the third, SAU's Alese Casper scored on an error to make it 3-0.
- Jade Miller hit her second solo home run in the fourth inning to make it 4-0.
- Madison Miller also hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to push the score to 5-0.
- The Muleriders added five runs on six hits in the sixth inning.

- Lacey Coats (8-11) took the loss going three and two-thirds innings giving up eight hits and five runs while striking out five.
- In relief, Hannah Hasle went two and one-third innings and gave up five runs on nine hits.
- Sydney Ward (15-3) went the complete game striking out eight and not allowing a hit in six innings.

GAME 2
- SAU scored six runs on four hits in the first inning including a three-run home run from Moriah Hamilton.
- After a double from Taylor Picou, Kailyn Lofton drove her in to make it 6-1 in the second inning. That was followed by a sacrifice fly by Jenny Griggers to score Lofton to make in 6-2 after two innings of play.
- Southern Arkansas scored three runs in the third inning on five hits including a solo home run from Gracie King.
- Taylor Murphy drove in another run for SAU in the fourth inning to make in 10-2.
- Jaxynn Dyson drove in the final run for SAU in the fifth inning.

- Makenna Keeton (0-3) got the start and went three innings giving up nine runs on ten hits.
- Olivia Burns threw two innings and gave up two runs on five hits.
- Kiana Pogroszewski (12-4) went four innings and gave up two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
- Bailey Thornhill threw one inning and gave up one hit while striking out three.
NOTABLES
- SAU out hit DSU 32-4 in the two games.
