JACKSON, Tenn. -- Hayden Cooper drove in nine runs to help the Delta State University baseball team sweep a doubleheader from Union University by the scores of 17-11 and 11-4 on Saturday at Fesmire Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 1
- Chad Ragland, Hayden White, Jake Barlow, and Kirkland Trahan drew walks to open the top of the first.
- Ragland scored on a Trahan walk and Hayden Cooper delivered a bases-clearing double to stake the Statesmen an early 4-0 lead.
- Union answered with two runs in the bottom of the first as Josh Bozoian doubled in a pair of runs to trim the deficit to 4-2.
- Barlow belted a three-run home run to centerfield with Ragland and White aboard to make the score 7-2 in the second inning.
- Grayson Swanson doubled in a run and Blake Barrett hit a two-run home run to cut the DSU lead to 8-5 in the third.
- Hayden Cooper's fourth home run of the season plated three runs to take an 11-5 lead in the fourth.
- Bett Netterville duplicated Cooper's feat in the bottom of the fourth to draw Union to within three runs, trailing 11-8.
- Delta State added two runs in the sixth to take a 13-8 lead. Ragland singled home a run and White worked a walk with the bases loaded.
- The lead grew to 16-8 as the Statesmen plated three runs. Blayke Dendy led off the eighth with a solo home run, his fifth, followed by a White RBI double while White scored on a wild pitch.
- Cooper belted his second homer of the game to give the Statesmen a 17-8 lead in the top of the ninth.
- Union scored three runs in the ninth to make the score 17-11 and finish off the scoring. Britt Netterville had an RBI single, and Grayson Swanson hit a two-run home run to highlight the inning.

- Trace McNabb (1-0) gave up three runs, two earned on four hits while fanning five over 5.0 innings of work.
- Sam McMillin (1-5) gave up eight runs on seven hits with six walks and three strikeouts to take the loss for Union.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 2
- The Bulldogs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second off an RBI double by Trey Frierson and a run-scoring single by Carson Chavies.
- Delta State scored two in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 4-2 lead.
- Cooper tied the game with a two-RBI double in the fourth.
- Gabe Stockton singled home Dendy and Clowers scored on a Ragland bunt in the fifth.
- The Statesmen scored five runs on six hits aided by two Union errors to take a 9-2 lead in the sixth. Stockton and Dendy had RBI singles and a White single up the middle brought in two more runs.
- A Swanson two-run home run cut the Statesmen lead to 9-4 in the sixth.
- Stockton doubled home Dendy, who tripled, and later scored on a Ragland sac-fly to push the lead to 11-4.

- Harrison Haley (6-0) notched his fourth complete game, giving up four runs with a walk and three strikeouts to earn the win.
- Luke Williamson (2-3) gave up six runs, four earned, on four hits with five strikeouts as the pitcher of record for the Bulldogs.

- Barlow belted his team-leading ninth home run of the season and the 41st of his career, moving into a tie for third with Jud Thigpen (2001-2004) on the DSU career home runs list.
- Cooper's seven RBI were two shy of the Delta State single-game RBI record of nine set by Jud Thigpen against Southern Arkansas (5.16.2004).
- Cooper finished the doubleheader 6-for-9 with two doubles, two home runs, and nine RBI. Cooper went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, and seven RBI in game one and was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in game two.
- Barlow was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in game one
- The Statesmen hit four home runs in a game for the second time this season, equaling the four belted against Alabama Huntsville (3.5.22).
