LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The Delta State University softball team had a pair of leads on the day, but dropped both games of the double header to the University of West Alabama Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED |
GAME 1
- In the top of the first, the Lady Statesmen got the bases loaded when Karley Bloesch brought Alana Walker home but Olivia Burns and Taylor Picou were both tagged out on the play to end the inning.
- The Tigers of West Alabama scored a run after Kelsie Gilliam was walked. She stole second and third base and then Kacy Noland brought her home on a bunt in the fourth inning.
- UWA then took the lead on a single from Nicole Buccieri scoring Noland in the fourth.
- Mary Grace Sheffield, who was pinch running for the Tigers, scored on a sacrifice bunt from Taylor Clegg to give UWA the 3-1 lead.
- After a triple from Cassie Matlock, Kelsie Gilliam brought her home to make the score 4-1 for UWA in the fifth inning.

GAME 1
- Hannah Hasle (8-5) took the loss for DSU. She went four and two-thirds innings giving up four runs on five hits.
- Makenna Keeton threw in relief and went one and one-third innings striking out one.
- Kacy Noland (5-7) earned the complete game win for UWA. She gave up one run on two hits and struck out four.
HOW IT HAPPENED |
GAME 2
- A triple from Kacy Noland scored Kelsie Gilliam for UWA in the first inning, but Alana Walker threw a runner out at home trying to extend the lead for the Tigers.
- Jenny Griggers got the first hit for DSU in the top of the third but was thrown out trying to steal second base.
- Picou hit a triple to score Burns and tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth.
- Then Bloesch reached base on a dropped fly ball from UWA and Picou scored to give the Lady Statesmen the 2-1 lead.
- Hannah Myndard tied the game for the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth when her double scored Noland.
- Delta State loaded the bases in the fifth inning with just one out but couldn't bring anyone to home plate.
- UWA took the lead in the bottom of the sixth, when an error from DSU allowed two runs to score on a sacrifice bunt attempt from Taylor Clegg.
- Clegg then came in to score on a bunt from Lexy House to make it 5-2.

GAME 2
- Makenna Keeton (0-4 went the complete game giving up five runs with only two being earned. She walked one, struckout one, and gave up six hits.
- Kaeleigh Crutchfield (6-5) went seven innings for UWA giving up two runs on eight hits.
NOTABLES
- Picou had her second triple of the season.
- Delta State only had two hits in game one.
- Bloesch and Walker were the only two with hits in both games.
