Hammer Franks helped the Delta State University baseball team sweep a twin bill from Christian Brothers University and secure its 22nd Gulf South Conference regular-season title on Saturday at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 1
- Kirkland Trahan kick-started a six-run second with a solo home run to center to give the Statesmen a 1-0 lead. Kade Dees had a two-run double followed by a Carson Clowers sac-fly and a Jake Barlow run-scoring double.
- A Van True RBI triple got the Bucs on the board, trailing 6-1 after three innings.
- Blayke Dendy had an RBI single in the fifth to extend the lead to 7-1.
- Christian Brothers got an RBI double from Antonio Fernandez to cut the DSU lead to 7-1 in the top of the sixth.
- The Statesmen scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth off a Clowers a solo home run to build the lead to 9-2 in the sixth.
- True drove in his second run of the game with a single in the seventh a Ben Brocato sac-fly in the ninth trimmed DSU's lead to 9-4.
ON THE MOUND | GM 1
- Harrison Haley (9-1) struck out five and allowed two runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings pitched to earn the win.
- Travis Cole (1-5) gave up nine runs on 12 hits with a strikeout and four walks to take the loss for CBU.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 2
- The Statesmen plated three runs to get out to a 3-0 lead. Dalton Cummins hit a two-run home run to highlight the frame.
- J.D. Goodspeed doubled in a run in the fourth to get CBU on the board down 3-1.
ON THE MOUND | GM 2
- Hammer Franks (3-2) fanned seven Bucs while allowing one run on six hits to earn the win.
- Joseph Gibson (3-2) gave up three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts against four walks as the pitcher of record for the Bucs.
- Steven Lacey (3) tossed a scoreless ninth to close the game for the save.
NOTABLES
- Clowers finished the doubleheader 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the doubleheader.
- Dendy went 3-for-7 with a double and two RBI while White was 3-for-7 with two doubles and two RBI.
- Cummins also had two RBI with a home run in game one.
- Barlow drove in his 173rd career run to move to pass Michael Niemann for eighth on the DSU career RBI list.
- Trahan belted his 10th home run of the season to move into second on the team behind Barlow's 13 homers.
