Delta State Football's Scott Eyster Named to GSC Hall of Fame

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Gulf South Conference announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2022 - Valdosta State's Briny Baird, Delta State's Warren (Scott) Eyster, Christian Brother's Missy Gregg, West Florida's Courtney Jones, and Alabama Huntsville's Audrey Williams.
 
"The Gulf South Conference is built by amazing individuals committed to outstanding institutions and this Hall of Fame class is a great example," said GSC Commissioner Matt Wilson. "We are excited to honor another group of influential former student-athletes and administrators this June."
 
This will be the conference's eighth class inducted since the Hall of Fame's inception in 2014. Honorees from the 2020 and 2022 classes will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 1 at 5:30 pm CT at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Hotel in Pensacola, Fla. The ceremony will be live streamed through the GSC's Facebook channel.
GSC Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Inductees
Briny Baird - Valdosta State, Men's Golf
Baird was a three-time men's golf letter winner at Valdosta State. He helped the Blazers to back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championship appearances in 1994 and 1995, while winning the individual title both years. Baird was the GSC Golfer of the Year and tournament medalist in 1994, in addition to being a two-time First Team GCAA All-America selection and two-time recipient of the Arnold Palmer Award.  
 
Warren (Scott) Eyster - Delta State, Football
Eyster was a four-year starter for Delta State football and a member of the GSC Team of the Decade (2000-09). The former quarterback's career numbers see him as the conference's all-time leader in passing yards (13,889), total offensive yards (14,319) and passing touchdowns (128), which also have him among the NCAA top 15 in each category at the time of his induction. Eyster's athletic laurels included three All-America selections, GSC Freshman of the Year in 2003, and the league's top offensive honors in 2005 and 2006. He was also a 2007 recipient of GSC Commissioner Trophy for his all-around effort on the field and in the classroom. 
 
Missy Gregg - Christian Brothers, Women's Soccer
Gregg was a two-year member of CBU women's soccer, leading the program to back-to-back NCAA championship games, winning the title in 2002. She is the GSC and NCAA Division II all-time leader in goals (135), points per game (5.98), goals per game (2.81), points in a season (156), points per game in a season (7.09), goals in a season (73), goals per game in a season (3.32). Gregg was a two-time GSC Player of the Year, two-time First Team All-American and two-time Division II National Player of the Year, including many other honors. 
 
Courtney Jones - West Florida, Women's Soccer
A three-time All-America selection, Jones played four seasons for West Florida helping it to four trips to the NCAA tournament and three GSC tournament titles. She appeared in goal for 88 games and posted a 75-8-4 career record. She is also the GSC record holder for shutouts in a singles season (17) and career (48). Williams also excelled in the classroom earning CoSIDA Academic All-America (2009), NSCAA Scholar All-America, GSC Commissioner's Award (2010) and GSC Top Ten (2009) recognition.  
 
Audrey Williams - Alabama Huntsville, Softball
Williams was a four-year softball letter winner at Alabama Huntsville. She was a three-time NFCA All-American selection from 1999 to 2001, as well as a First Team All-GSC and NFCA All-Region choice at shortstop. Williams helped UAH win three-straight GSC tournament titles, while qualifying capturing NCAA South Region crowns in 1999 and 2001. She's among the GSC career all-time leaders in games played (270), at-bats (786), hits (314), runs scored (204), doubles (63), batting average (.400) and assists (500).
