CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Delta State University Director of Athletics
Mike Kinnison announced the hiring of
Colton Haynes as the school's head Strength and Conditioning coach on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
"There are not many schools that mean something to you and when I had the opportunity to move back home and take over the program, thanks to Coach Kinnison and the hiring committee, it was a no brainer for me," Haynes said.
Haynes joins the #
DSUFamily from Arkansas Tech, where he served as a graduate assistant working with football, basketball, baseball, softball, and golf.Â

Prior to his time with the Wonder Boys, Haynes served as a Performance Coach at
KDMC Pro Performance, where he worked with the
Copiah Lincoln Community College football team and was the head strength coach for baseball, softball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's soccer, women's soccer, and golf
.Â

He also served as the strength coach for Brookhaven High and Brookhaven Academy sports teams.
"I am excited and know this is somewhere we can build competitive teams across the Gulf South consistently,": Haynes remarked. "Every year is a new challenge and I look forward to being a resource for Statesmen and Lady Statesmen sports."

Haynes has spent time as a strength & conditioning coach at St. Joseph Catholic School in Greenville, Miss., where he played a key support role for a State Championship, as well as a physical therapist tech at Mississippi Baptist Medical Hospital. He also has served as a fitness instructor at Baptist
Healthplex, and interned at
Millsaps,Â
Belhaven, and Mississippi College.

Haynes played football at Mississippi College and is
NCSA-CSCS and
USAW- Level 1 certified and owns a B.S. in Kinesiology from Mississippi College and a M.S. in Strength and Conditioning at Arkansas Tech University.
