BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Dohnte Meyers, Keshawn Jennings, and Tim Williams Jr. were honored as Preseason All-Gulf South Conference selections on Wednesday, July 27, 2020.

Meyers and Jennings earn first-team honors, while Williams snags second-team honors.

Meyers led the team with 55 receptions for 665 yards and five touchdowns in his first season as a Statesmen. His 55 grabs ranked fifth while his 665 yards ranked seventh in the GSC.

Jennings earned Second-Team All-GSC in 2021, starting in all 11 games between center and guard on the offensive front.

Williams ranked seventh in the GSC with 10 tackles for loss and tied for fourth with eight solo tackles for loss from his defensive end slot. He also ranked third with six solo sacks, and 7.5 total sacks while recording 40 stops with two blocked kicks.

Delta State is fifth in the league in the GSC Preseason Coaches Poll. The Statesmen had 26 points, three points behind the fourth pick West Alabama.

Defending GSC Champion Valdosta State tops the poll with 48 points and six first-place votes, followed by West Florida with 42 points and two first-place votes, and West Georgia (38 points).

Mississippi College (17), North Greenville (16), and Shorter University (7) round out the eight-team poll.

Delta State opens the 2022 season at Kentucky State on Sat., Sept. 3 in Frankfurt, Kent.
