Despite Offensive Effort, Statesmen Soccer End in Tie Against Ouachita Baptist

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Statesmen soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw against Ouachita Baptist University Friday night in a game that was moved from the Arkadelphia campus to Hot Springs, Ark. with a delayed start due to inclement weather.

Delta State (0-1-2) led an offensive attack in the match with 14 shots, six shots on goal and 12 corner kicks.  The Statesmen got on the scoreboard first when Ryan Thistle scored his first goal of the season and first goal as a Statesman in the 33rd minute to give Delta State a 1-0 lead. Santiago Rossi also picked up his first assist on the play.

Caleb Miller produced with one of the Tigers' only two shots on goal with just three minutes to go in the first half to even the score. An aggressive second half with a combined 15 fouls and 3 yellow cards yielded no additional goals.
