PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The Lady Statesmen (7-12 overall, 6-9 GSC) held West Florida (12-5, 12-3) to just under 34 percent shooting on Thursday night, but the Lady Statesmen were unable to capitalize on the good defense as they made only 25.4 percent of their attempts. The Argonauts shot a hair over 45 percent from the field in the first quarter, but the Delta State defense never allowed that number to get above 40 percent for an individual quarter after that.

The Argonauts held an advantage in paint points, outscoring the Lady Statesmen 28-16 down low. Thursday's game was also a relatively clean one with only 13 free throws attempted between the two teams. 

Two Lady Statesmen reached double figures on the score sheet as 7 different DSU players contributed to their total. Alanna Smith scored a team-high 12 points with 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Camryn Davis also reached double-figures with 10 points to go with 7 boards. Otashae Burrage scored six points with an assist and a rebound and Bryanna Taylor had 4 points with 3 rebounds.
