Cleveland, Miss.-- The Delta State University Men's Soccer traveled to the Falcons of the University Montevallo this Sunday for a GSC matchup. The Green and White came out looking to make history today. The Statesmen's defense would be challenged early by giving up a goal in the 30
th minute of the match. At halftime, head coach Austin Jackman and assistant
Tom Toulson gathered the team and got them to remember their style of play. DSU would respond to the talk and fully control the game, dominating all aspects.
Arturo Riestra scored the first goal of the match for the Statesmen in the 61
st minute. The Green and White continued to pressure the Falcons which led to
Will Ballenger scoring the second goal for DSU. Statesmen winger
Ashton Taylor would run past the entire Montevallo defense to score the third goal for the Green and White. With the victory today, the Statesmen clinched a spot in the GSC tournament for the first time in over a decade.
