HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME 1
  • Delta State went in order in the top of the first. A walk, single, and an error loaded the bases for the Tritons with one out in the bottom of the first. An RBI ground out scored the first run of the game. An inning-ending flyout would stop the Eckerd scoring threat. 1-0 Eckerd after 1.
  • Hayden Cooper was hit by a pitch to lead off the top of the second inning. A Brett Burrell single and Eric Newsom ground out gave DSU runners at second and third with one away. Matt Corder hit a single that scored Cooper from third, but Burrell was caught at home trying to score as well. Delta State and Eckerd would strand their remaining runners in the inning. Tied 1-1 after 2.
  • Both teams combined for 11 runners left on base between the third and eighth innings. In the ninth inning,  Delta State had a runner at third with no outs, and runners at second and third with one away, but was unable to score the runners. The Tritons went down in order in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings. Tied 1-1 through 9.
  • Delta State went down in order in the top of the tenth. An Eckerd single, stolen base, and throwing error put the winning run at third with one out in the bottom of the tenth. An RBI single two batters later would seal the extra-innings win. 2-1 Eckerd final.
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME 2
  • Carson Clowers reached on a throwing error and later scored in the first on an RBI single by Kirkland Trahan. Eckerd College took the lead in the bottom of the first on three singles, two of which scored runners from second base. 2-1 Eckerd after 1.
  • Delta State went down in order in the top of the second. Three more Triton hits would plate another run in the bottom half of the inning. 3-1 Eckerd after 2.
  • The Statesmen tied the game in the fifth inning, beginning with a one-out single by Brendan McCauley. A Carson Clowers double put DSU runners at second and third with one away. RBIs by Taylor Woodcock and Trahan scored the runners. An Eckerd RBI single in the bottom of the fifth allowed the Tritons to regain the lead. 4-3 Eckerd after 5.
  • Matt Corder hit his first home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning with two outs. Eckerd stranded their only baserunner in the sixth. Tied 4-4 after 6.
