Lady Statesmen Split Conference Opener With Valdosta State

CLEVELAND, Miss.  -- Delta State softball saw Valdosta State make the most of their chances in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. They also learned from their mistakes and earned their first win over the Blazers since 2018 in game two.
Lady Statesmen catcher MyCala Helms' grand slam in the fifth inning of game two fired up the DSU players and crowd and helped push them across the finish line for their first conference win of the season. The win is also the first GSC win for first-year head coach Whitney Way.
