HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Valdosta State went down in order in the top of the first. Carson Clowers led the bottom of the first with a single and scored on a double by Brendan McCauley. McCauley advanced to third on a ground-out by Kirkland Trahan and scored on an RBI single by Hayden Cooper. Delta State stranded one in the bottom of the first. 2-0 Delta State after 1.
  • VSU went down in order in each of the first three innings with starting pitcher Kameron Koch looking perfect through the first 3.2 innings. A single by JP Gates with two outs in the fourth followed by a triple by Hunter Stowe plated the first Valdosta State run. DSU fell in order in the bottom of the fourth. 3-1 Delta State after 4.
  • Two hits by the Blazers to lead the fifth inning paid off in the form of another VSU run to cut into the Statesmen lead. However, Clowers came around to score following a one-out double on an RBI single by McCauley. A single by Trahan and a walk to Hayden Cooper later allowed McCauley to score on a ground out by Brett Burrell. A Matt Corder RBI double scored Trahan from third. 6-2 Delta State after 5.
  • Cade Hodges relieved Koch in the sixth inning and stranded a VSU runner in the sixth. Hodges pitched the remaining 3.2 innings, holding the Blazers to just one hit down the stretch. Delta State held on for the 6-2 win and out-hit VSU 14-6 for the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • Both teams went in order in the first inning. Valdosta State put two runners on in the top of the second with one out before a groundout put both runners in scoring position. A two-out, three-run home run by Bryson Gandy started the scoring for the Blazers. DSU went in order in their half of the inning. 3-0 Blazers after 2.
  • VSU had two outs in the top of the third when Gates hit a double to keep the inning alive. A walk and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases. A throwing error on the potential third out allowed Gates and the four-hole hitter Jakob Sessa to score. DSU led the bottom of the inning with a HBP to Noah Thigpen and got a single from Clowers with two outs, but stranded both of them. 5-0 Blazers after 3.
  • Both teams stranded a runner each in the fourth inning. Another two-out baserunner for VSU came around to score in the fifth inning after a base hit by Jacob Harper.
