MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The game started slow for both teams, but the Statesmen bats woke up in the fifth inning of DSU's 12-1 seven-inning win on Friday afternoon. Delta State scored eight runs on six hits in the top of the fifth to break open what was a 1-1 tie to that point.
"We left the bases loaded twice in the first four innings. We finally started scoring those runners in the fifth and let our hitting get contagious," said Head Coach
Rodney Batts. "Can't say enough about
Logan Cromer coming into a tied ballgame and getting us out of a tough situation with no outs. I'm proud of the way the guys competed and got that first win (of the series)."
