CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State overcame a six-run deficit on Tuesday night to defeat Arkansas-Monticello. The Statesmen hit three home runs as they out-hit the Boll Weevils 10-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Monticello picked up the first hit of the game in the first, but stranded the runner. Jonathan Dewberry led the DSU half of the first with a walk. He moved to second on a groundout and scored from second after Brett Burrell reached on an error. 1-0 Delta State after 1.
- Monticello scored four runs with two away in the top of the second on four total hits in the inning. Delta State fell in order. 4-1 UAM after 2.
- Three more UAM runs were scored in the third on two bases-loaded walks and a sac fly. Dewberry led off the DSU half of the third with a double. A flyout moved him to third and a Kirkland Trahan groundout scored him. Burrell was then hit by a pitch and Hayden Cooper drew a walk. Brett Cobb singled to score Burrell, then a Noah Thigpen single scored Cooper after interference by the third basemen. 7-4 UAM after 3.
- The Boll Weevils struck out twice as they stranded two walks in the fourth. A Trahan RBI single scored Carson Clowers after a leadoff walk and Dewberry who reached on an error. 7-6 UAM after 4.
- Two more UAM runners reached after walks, but all three outs were recorded via strikeout in their half of the fifth. Brett Cobb tied the game with a leadoff homer to left. Noah Thigpen homered in the next at-bat to give the Statesmen the lead. 8-7 Delta State after 5.
- UAM again stranded two in the sixth on no hits. Kirkland Trahan hammered a ball over the right field fence to extend the DSU lead. 9-7 Delta State after 6.
- Steven Lacey struck out two Weevil batters in the seventh. A leadoff walk to Thigpen and an HBP to Eli Stallings put two on and a sac bunt by Clowers moved them into scoring position. Dewberry was also walked to load the bases. A McCauley sac fly and a wild pitch scored Thigpen and Stallings. 11-7 Delta State after 7.
- UAM fell in order in the eighth and Hayden Cooper picked up a DSU double. UAM loaded the bases with no outs to start the ninth. Two groundouts scored two runs, but the Statesmen held on for the comeback victory. 11-9 Delta State Final.
ON THE MOUND
- Starter Hammer Franks pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits with a walk and a hit.
- Jesse Homan faced four batters, giving up two runs on three hits.
- Cade Whitley pitched 0.2 innings. He allowed three runs on one hit with three walks and a strikeout.
- Duke Jordan pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no runs or hits, but walking three with one strikeout.
- Cade Hodges (W, 2-1) pitched 1.1 innings, allowing no runs or hits while striking out four with two walks.
- Trace McNabb pitched 1.0 inning with no runs or hits allowed. He walked two and struck out one.
- Steven Lacey pitched 2.0 innings, giving up no runs or hits and striking out two.
- Noah Magee pitched the ninth innings, giving up two runs on one hit with two walks and a strikeout.
