MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Delta State drops the final two games of the series at Montevallo. The two teams combined for 10 home runs between the three games. The first ten Falcon runs of the day came with two outs in the innings they were scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
- Jonathan Dewberry led game one with a single, but was taken off the bases after a double play. Kirkland Trahan then doubled to left field and came in on a massive two-run homer to left by Hayden Cooper. Montevallo answered with a two-run home run of their own and an RBI double in the bottom of the first. 3-2 Montevallo after 1.
- Taylor Woodcock reached base safely on an error, then moved to second after a Matthew Nichols single to lead the second inning. Noah Thigpen drew a walk just before Carson Clowers hit a sac fly to center to tie the game and put runners at the corners. Dewberry also drew a walk to load the bases. Brendan McCauley grounded into a fielder's choice in which the out was recorded at home. Trahan brought two more Statesmen in on a 2 RBI single to right field. An RBI single and a two-run home run put the Falcons back ahead. 6-5 Montevallo after 2.
- Delta State left one on in the top of the third as Montevallo stranded two in their half. Delta State stranded the bases loaded in the fourth. A three-run home run extended the Montevallo lead in the fourth. All Montevallo runs to this point have come with two outs in the innings. 9-5 Montevallo after 4.
- Woodcock drew a walk, but was left on in the fifth. Montevallo picked up a hit and stranded two in their half of the fifth. McCauley drew a one-out walk to start the action in the sixth. Trahan then singled and both moved into scoring position after a wild pitch. A walk to Cooper loaded the bases. Eric Newsom hit a pinch-hit single to score McCauley as everyone moved up 90 feet. Woodcock then hit an RBI sac fly to close the lead to two. Montevallo then fell in order. 9-7 Montevallo after 6.
- Delta State sent three to the plate in the seventh and Montevallo left one on. Trahan was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a Cooper single, and scored on a Newsom RBI single to bring DSU within one in the eighth. Montevallo fell again in order. DSU also only sent three to the plate in the eighth after three hard-hit outs. 9-8 Montevallo Final.
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
- Delta State went in order in the first. A pair of two-out hits plated the first Montevallo run. 1-0 Montevallo after 1.
- DSU stranded two in the second including a single from Thigpen. Three HBPs and a grand slam aided the Falcons in their seven-run second inning. 8-0 Montevallo after 2.
- Both teams only sent three to the plate in the third. Trahan led the fourth with a moon-shot homer to right. Steven Lacey struck out the side in the bottom of the fourth. 8-1 Montevallo after 4.
- Nichols led the fifth with a single, but was left at second base. Lacey picked up three more strikeouts in the bottom of the fifth. Delta State left two on in the sixth. A two-run home run extended the Falcon lead as they stranded the bases loaded. 10-1 Montevallo after 6.
- Delta State falls in order in the seventh to give the series win to the Falcons. 10-1 Montevallo Final.
ON THE MOUND
- Game one starter Drake Fontenot (L, 4-2) pitched 4.0 innings, allowing nine runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
- Duke Jordan relieved Fontenot and pitched the next 3.1 innings. He gave up only one hit and struck out one with only one walk.
- Noah Magee faced two batters and picked up the final two outs for the DSU pitching staff.
- Game two starter Hammer Franks (L, 0-3) pitched 1.2 innings. He allowed six runs on three hits with two strikeouts, one walk, and two HBPs.
- Cade Hodges went 0.2 innings, allowing two runs on two hits with a strikeout and an HBP.
- Steven Lacey recorded seven strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work with no runs or hits allowed and only two walks.
- Trace McNabb faced four batters, allowing two runs on three hits.
- Josh Hill pitched the final 0.2 innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two.

Delta State travels to Lane College in Jackson, TN on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm midweek contest, then returns to Cleveland next weekend for another three-game GSC series against West Georgia.
