HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Georgia went in order in the top of the first. Jonathan Dewberry singled, then Brendan McCauley and Kirkland Trahan drew walks to load the bases with no outs. Eric Newsom reached base safely after a misplay by the UWG left fielder that also allowed Dewberry to score. Brett Cobb then singled to move everyone up 90 more feet and plate McCauley. Matthew Nichols then doubled to plate Trahan and Newsom, and Carson Clowers hit a three-run homer to score Cobb and Nichols. 7-0 Delta State after 1.
- Both teams sent only three to the plate in the second inning. West Georgia left the bases loaded in the third as DSU went in order. Both teams fell in order again in the fourth. 7-0 Delta State after 4.
- A walk and a single left two Wolves on base in the fifth. Newsom was left on in the fifth after a leadoff walk. One more UWG runner was left on in the sixth. Clowers drew a leadoff walk and stole second. Three straight two-out singles by Trahan, Cooper, and Newsom brought in two more DSU runs in their half of the sixth. 9-0 Delta State after 6.
- UWG loaded bases, but couldn't plate a run in the top of the seventh as DSU left Nichols aboard after a one-out walk. The Wolves left one on in the eighth. Delta State went in order in the eighth, but they did manage to get an at-bat for Dalton Cummings in the frame. West Georgia fell in order in the ninth to lock in the win for the Statesmen. 9-0 Delta State Final.
