NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Delta State University women's soccer team (4-4-5, 3-3-4 GSC) got an early goal from
Kennedi Turner as they defeated Trevecca Nazarene University 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Trojan Soccer Complex.
Turner would take a cross ball into the box from
Chloe Jackson, make a move by a defender and put it into the back of the net with 29:05 left in the first half to take a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Statesmen would take a 1-0 lead into the break as they outshot the Trojans 7-3 in the first half.
The Lady Statesmen both saw
Olivia Griffin and
Bailey Daugherty in the goal for this one as Griffin would play the first 54:19 and earned her second win, while Daugherty would finish the final 35:41 both preserving the Shutout.
The Lady Statesmen had three saves from each keeper along with a team save as they faced seven shots in all 90 minutes.
The Lady Statesmen will return home for the final home stretch of the regular season next weekend as they host the Warhawks from Auburn University at Montgomery next Friday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 p.m. (CDT).
