CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University men's basketball team (3-2, 0-0 GSC) will host the Boll Weevils from Arkansas Monticello (3-2, 0-0 GAC) this Tuesday at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
The Voice of the Statesmen Michael Gross will have the call on the Statesmen Sports Network as well as the Flo College network. Tomorrow's double header with the men's basketball team is campus appreciation game where we will be recognizing the faculty and staff at Delta State.
Scouting the Statesmen
- Delta State is currently 3-2 and are looking to bounce back after two straight losses to Kentucky Wesleyan and Ouachita Baptist. Against the Tigers, junior guard Kolby Horace added his second 20-point performance of the season. The Mobile, Ala. native averages 14 PPG shooting 56.8% from the field.
- Senior Guard Keithean Brooks leads the statesmen in scoring. Brooks enters the game averaging 16.8 points per game shooting 46.7% from the field and 88% from the free throw line.
- Senior point guard Chris Terrell, has been the distributor on offense and the havoc creator on defense. The Horn Lake native leads the GSC averaging 5.6 assist per game and 3.4 steals per game. Terrell has the most points scored in a game this season with 29 the last time the Statesmen were at home against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Scouting the Boll Weevils
- Arkansas Monticello enters this week on a three-game winning streak against Champion Christian College, Arkansas Baptist, and Ecclesia College. Last Saturday the Boll Weevils defeated Ecclesia 94-30.
- The Boll Weevils top scorer is none other than sophomore guard Seth Grandberry. Grandberry enters this game averaging 14.2 points per game shooting 41.5% from the field. Grandberry scored 10 points in the win over Ecclesia playing in 23 minutes.
- Against Ecclesia, Jamir Turner posted a double-double, posting 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The Boll Weevils had five players in double digits in the 94-30 victory.
