CLEVELAND, Miss.- The Delta State University men's basketball team (4-2, 0-0 GSC) will open Gulf South Conference play with back-to-back road trips to Tennessee to take on Union University and Christian Brothers University.

Delta State will play Union Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. (CDT) in Jackson, Tenn. The Statesmen will follow Thursday night's game with a road trip two days later to Memphis to take on the Buccaneers of Christian Brothers University. The tip-off on Saturday will be at 4:00 p.m., (CDT).

Scouting the Statesmen
- Delta State enters conference play after going 4-2 in non-conference play. The Statesmen defeated the visiting Boll Weevils from the University of Arkansas Monticello last Tuesday 79-63. The Statesmen enter conference play leading the GSC, forcing 21.3 turnovers per game as a team.
- In the win over Arkansas Monticello, senior guard Chris Terrell came close to a triple-double for the Green and White. Terrell scored a team high 26 points, grabbed six rebounds and had a career-high eight steals in the win. The effort in the win over UAM named Chris Terrell the Gulf South Conference Player of the Week.
- Senior guard and preseason All-GSC nominee, Keithean Brooks leads the Statesmen as he currently averages 18.2 points per game, shooting 43.6 % from the field. Against UAM, Brooks scored 25, as he was aggressive on the offensive end as he went 11-13 from the free-throw line.
Scouting the Bulldogs
- Union enters conference play with a 4-2 record but is on a two-game losing streak after going 0-2 last weekend in Springfield, Mo., losing to Illinois-Springfield 76-65, and Drury 91-69.
- The Bulldogs are led by grad-transfer CJ Jackson. Jackson transferred from division I UT-Rio Grande Valley, is averaging 15.8 points per game in six games as a starter for Union. Against Illinois Springfield, Jackson scored 20 points and shot 7-13 from the field.
- Union currently has the GSC Freshman of the Week in Forward Judson Bjornstad. Bjornstad had a great trip to Springfield last week as he averaged 11.5 points per game in 62 minutes played for the Bulldogs.
Scouting the Buccaneers
- Christian Brothers is entering conference play with a 4-1 record and is currently on a two-game winning streak. Last time out, the Buccaneers traveled to Arkadelphia and defeated the Reddies from Henderson State 81-77.
- The Buccaneers are led by the duo of Kyler Mann and Jailen Anderson. Anderson leads CBU, averaging 14.8 points per game and has a team high of nine steals this season. Mann enters the weekend averaging 14.4 points per game and is pulling down 5.2 rebounds per game.
- Against Henderson State, junior guard Iman Kheirati had 18 points and nine rebounds in the win. Kheirati is entering the weekend averaging a double-double with 11 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game.
