Cleveland, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Basketball team traveled to Montevallo, Alabama for a GSC matchup with the Falcons of Montevallo. The Lady Statesmen's offense started by scoring 21 points in the first quarter to lead the Falcons 21-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Falcons switched their defensive pressure to a zone defense which caused problems for the Lady Statesmen. DSU was limited to only 13 points in the second while UM scored 19 points in the quarter. The Green and White took a 35-32 lead into the half. DSU turned up their defensive pressure to start the second half, only allowing Montevallo to score nine points in the third quarter. The Lady Statesmen scored 13 points in the third quarter to take a 48-41 lead into the fourth. The fourth quarter would be a back-and-forth contest, but the Lady Statesmen would pull away late to defeat the Falcons 57-53.
