JOPLIN, Mo. – Delta State Softball began their busy week with a Tuesday doubleheader against the Missouri Southern Lions. The Lady Statesmen picked up eight hits between the two games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
- The Lady Statesmen sent three to the plate in the first. The Lions plated the game's first run after a one-out RBI single and stranded two runners. 1-0 Missouri Southern after one.
- DSU left a runner on base in the second after Kyleigh Wheaton reached on an error. The Lions plated three more runs in the bottom of the second and stranded three runners on bases. 4-0 Lions after two.
- The Lions had the only baserunner for either team in the third inning. Delta State left one on in the top of the fourth after MyCala Helms drew a leadoff walk. Missouri Southern left a runner at second in the fourth after Morgan Grubb picked up a big strikeout to end the inning. Both teams sent three to the plate in the fifth. 4-0 Missouri Southern after five.
- Helms picked up the second DSU hit with two outs in the sixth. The Lions picked another run off a hit and an error in the sixth. 5-0 Missouri Southern after six.
- Abbi Cataldo picked up the third DSU hit in the seventh, but the Lady Statesmen were held off the scoreboard. 5-0 Missouri Southern final.
Game Two
- Raegan Stafford and Sydney Peavey singled but were left on base in the top of the first. A two-out triple scored the first Missouri Southern run of the game. 1-0 Missouri Southern after one.
- Emma Collier singled in the top of the second. The Lions plated ten runs on eight hits and left two on base in the inning. 11-0 Missouri Southern after two.
- Both teams went in order in the third. Katelyn Harmon singled with one out in the fourth. The Lions sent three to the plate in the fourth. Stafford picked up another hit in the fifth, but was left on base. 11-0 Missouri Southern final.
ON THE MOUND
- Game one starter Audry Rumsey pitched 1.2 innings, allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 1 hit with 3 walks.
- Morgan Grubb pitched 4.1 innings of relief in game one, allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks. She drew the start in game two and pitched 1.1 innings, allowing 8 runs on 6 hits with a strikeout and a walk.
- Yazmin Jackson faced six batters. She allowed 3 runs on 3 hits.
- Emma Enderud pitched 2.1 innings in game two, allowing no runs or hits while striking out 4 Lions.
