MOBILE, Ala. – Delta State began a series with Spring Hill Friday night after opening the season last weekend against Harding. The Statesmen and Badgers both came into the game seeking their first series win of the year. A day-one split means the series will be decided in Saturday's rubber match at 2:00 pm.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
	- The Statesmen struck first in game one, starting with lead-off hits by Wes Warnock and a double by Brendan McCauley to put runners at second and third. Brett Burrell was walked to load the bases, followed by walks to Braiden Jones and Jonathan Dewberry to score Warnock and McCauley. The Badgers picked up a walk and two hits, but the Statesmen defense picked off a runner at second to end the inning. 2-0 Delta State after the first.
- Delta State loaded the bases again with two outs in the second, but were unable to plate a run. Spring Hill fell in order in the bottom of the second. DSU picked up hits from Hayden Cooper and Taylor Woodcock in the third. Spring Hill picked up two more hits and a walk in the bottom of the third, but again were held scoreless. 2-0 Delta State after the third.
- Warnock again led off the fourth with a single, stole second, then advanced to third on a throwing error. He then scored on an RBI double by Burrell. Spring Hill could only find one base-runner in the bottom half of the inning. 3-0 Delta State after four.
- Taylor Woodcock hit a solo homer in the top of the fifth to extend the DSU lead. Spring Hill picked up a hit and a walk, but left the inning scoreless. 4-0 Delta State after five.
- Burrell singled in the sixth and was the only base-runner for either team. Braiden Jones led the seventh with a double and scored on a two-run homer by Hayden Cooper. The Badgers picked up one hit in the seventh. 6-0 Delta State after seven.
- Delta State had two base-runners after HBPs in the eighth, with Spring Hill getting a runner after an error. Dylan Coleman hit a double in the ninth as the Badgers went down in order to end the game. 6-0 Delta State final.
Game Two
	- Brendan McCauley hit a one-out single in the first and scored on an RBI double by Blayke Dendy for the first run of the game. Spring Hill picked up their first hit of game two in the second as well. 1-0 Delta State after one.
- The first three Statesmen reached safely in the second after an HBP, a hit, and a walk by Hayden Cooper, Dylan Coleman, and Triston Hickman, respectively. Taylor Woodcock singled to score Cooper, Coleman scored on a wild pitch, and McCauley hit a sac fly to score Hickman. Spring Hill scored a run after two walks and an error in the bottom of the second. 4-1 Delta State after two.
- Delta State fell in order in the top of the third. Spring Hill got back within a run of DSU in the bottom of the second, using three hits, including a double and two singles. 4-3 Delta State after three.
- Delta State loaded the bases in the fourth with two outs, but was unable to score. Spring Hill tied the game with two outs in the bottom half of the inning before a three-run home run gave them the lead. 7-4 Spring Hill after four.
- The Statesmen loaded the bases again with two outs in the fifth, but were unable to plate a run. Spring Hill extended their lead with a two-out 2 RBI double. 9-4 Spring Hill after five.
- Warnock and McCauley hit back-to-back doubles in the sixth to score the fifth DSU run. The Badgers went in order in their half of the sixth. 9-5 Spring Hill after six.
- Coleman walked to start the seventh and advanced to second on a wild pitch, but he was unable to advance beyond there. 9-5 Spring Hill final.
