CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Statesmen hosted the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils Tuesday night for a midweek non-conference showdown. Delta State's hitters combined for three home runs, but fell 8-5 after allowing 13 hits. The Green & White defense also turned three double plays.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Weevils struck first on an RBI single in the top of the first. Dylan Coleman homered on the first pitch he saw and scored Brett Burrell who reached on a one-out walk. 2-1 Delta State after one.
- UAM recorded five hits, including a three-run home run to plate five runs in the second. DSU sent three to the plate in the second. 6-2 UAM after two.
- The Weevils added another run in the third on two hits. Coleman reached on an error and came around to score on a Braiden Jones home run. 7-4 UAM after three.
- Each team sent three to the plate in both the fourth and fifth innings. Each side recorded a hit in the sixth. DSU's hit was recorded by Blayke Dendy. UAM stranded the bases loaded in the top of the seventh. Triston Hickman hit a leadoff homer over the center field wall in the bottom of the seventh. 7-5 UAM after seven.
- Each team stranded a runner in the eighth. An RBI double gave the Weevils an insurance run in the ninth as the Statesmen fell in order in the home half. 8-5 UAM final.
On The Mound
- Starter Logan Eldridge pitched 1.1 innings, allowing six earned runs on six hits. He walked two batters.
- Brady Davis pitched 2.2 innings, allowing one earned run and three hits. He allowed one walk.
- Cade Whitley pitched 2.2 innings, giving up just one hit with a strikeout and three walks.
- Noah Magee pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts.

Statesmen Baseball resumes GSC play this Friday, March 15, at Ferriss Field against West Alabama. The series will end with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 16, beginning at 1:00 pm.
