CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Lady Statesmen split their first two games against the #21 West Alabama Tigers Saturday night. Delta State scattered twelve hits between the two games as
Emma Enderud pitched a complete game in the game two win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
- West Alabama scored two runs after two walks and two ground outs in the top of the first. DSU sent three to the plate in the home half of the inning. 2-0 UWA after one.
- The Tigers added a run on a solo home run in the top of the second. Kyleigh Wheaton picked up the first DSU hit in the bottom of the second. 3-0 UWA after two.
- A double, an error, and a ground out scored two more UWA runs in the top of the third. Calli McConnell singled to start the bottom of the third and moved to second after a ground out. A UWA error allowed Raegan Stafford to go to second base with two outs while also plating McConnell. MyCala Helms homered in the next at-bat two score Stafford as well. 5-3 UWA after three.
- UWA picked up a hit in the fourth, but stranded no batters after the runner was caught stealing. DSU left two on base including a hit by Wheaton. West Alabama went in order in the fifth as DSU left Helms on base after drawing an HBP. 5-3 UWA after five.
- The Tigers stranded two runners after two hits in the sixth. DSU sent three to the plate in the home half of the sixth. West Alabama stranded a runner at third in the seventh and the Lady Statesmen went in order. 5-3 UWA final.
Game Two
- Each team left a runner on base in the first as Sydney Pevey picked up a double for DSU. UWA stranded another runner in the second as the Lady Statesmen went in order. West Alabama left their third runner on base in the top of the third. Alyssa Gover singled with one out in the third, but was out at second after an FC from Stafford. Stafford moved to second when Helms was walked and later scored. 1-0 Delta State after three.
- West Alabama tied the game with a leadoff home run in the top of the fourth. Bailey Way hit a single with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. Tied 1-1 after four.
- Two more hits allowed UWA to score again in the top of the fifth as the Lady Statesmen sent three to the plate. 2-1 UWA after five.
- UWA left a runner at second in the top of the sixth. Helms led the home half of the sixth with a double and was replaced with pinch-runner Marin Beeson. Pevey singled to score Beeson and tied the game in the next at-bat. Wheaton reached on a fielder's choice, but Pevey was out on the play. Mattie Granberry came in to run for Wheaton and moved to second after a groundout. Bailey Way hit a double with two outs to score Granberry from second. The Tigers fell in order in the seventh to secure the DSU win. 3-2 Delta State final.
On The Mound
- Morgan Grubb started game one, pitching 6.0 innings. She allowed five runs (4 ER) on five hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
- Emma Enderud pitched the seventh inning of game one, allowing one hit with a strikeout. She also pitched all 7.0 innings of game two, allowing just two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and four walks.
