CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Statesmen completed the sweep of West Georgia on Saturday afternoon, scoring nine runs in each game of the doubleheader. The sweep also brought DSU's win streak up to five games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
- Clay Cook singled to start the game and moved to second when Brendan McCauley reached on a bunt single. The pair moved into scoring position on a groundout by Brett Burrell and scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Hayden Cooper reached on a two-out walk and scored on an error by the right fielder in Braiden Jones' at-bat. West Georgia went down in order in the bottom of the first. 3-0 Delta State after one.
- Taylor Woodcock walked to start the second and scored after bunt singles by Matthew Nichols and Cook. Nichols scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. West Georgia recorded their first hit in the home half of the frame. 5-0 Delta State after two.
- Cole Thompson recorded a hit for DSU in the third. West Georgia plated two runs on two hits. 5-2 Delta State after three.
- DSU stranded the bases loaded in the fourth with no hits in the inning as UWG picked up another hit. Thompson doubled to start the fifth, followed by a single by Cook with two outs. McCauley singled to score Thompson. Cook and McCauley scored on an error that allowed Burrell to reach base. A home run and an RBI double plated two UWG runs in the fifth. 8-4 Delta State after five.
- Each side collected a hit in the sixth inning. McCauley scored in the seventh after reaching on a walk. West Georgia scored two runs in the inning on walks and sac flys. 9-6 Delta State after seven.
- UWG had the only baserunner in the eighth after an HBP. Delta State went down in order in the ninth. The Wolves scored two runs on two hits and error and had the tying run on base with one out, but a double play ended the scoring threat and the game. 9-8 Delta State final.
Game Two
- McCauley singled with one out in the first and was joined on base by Burrell after an error. Dylan Coleman homered to bring everyone in. West Georgia went in order in the top of the first. 3-0 Delta State after one.
- West Georgia had the only baserunner in the second inning after a leadoff single. Coleman hit another home run in the third inning. West Georgia scored two runs on three hits. 4-2 Delta State after three.
- Dylan Dendy hit a leadoff homer for the Statesmen in the fourth. The Wolves left one on base in the inning. 5-2 Delta State after four.
- Coleman picked up a hit for DSU in the fifth. UWG left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth after three walks in the inning. The Statesmen left two on base in the sixth Thompson reached on an error and Woodcock was walked. West Georgia took the lead with four runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth. 6-5 UWG after six.
- Burrell reached on a one-out error and moved to third on a Coleman single in the top of the seventh. Blayke Dendy singled to score Burrell and move Coleman to second. Dylan Dendy then singled to score Coleman and move Blayke to third base. Hickman later singled to score Blayke and Peyton Badon, representing Dylan. The Wolves scored a run on three hits as the Statesmen held on to finalize the sweep. 9-7 Delta State final.
On The Mound
- Game one starter Drake Fontenot pitched 4.1 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
- Christian Clayson pitched 1.2 innings, allowing two runs and a hit with three Ks and two walks.
- Brady Davis recorded the win in game one, allowing no runs or hits with one walk.
- Noah Magee faced four batters in game one, allowing one run and one hit. He also pitched 1.1 innings in game two, allowing a run and three hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
- Josh Hill earned the save in game one, pitching 0.2 innings with no runs or hits. He also earned the save in game two, facing just one batter.
- Game two starter Logan Cromer pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with seven Ks and four walks.
- Cade Whitley faced four batters in game two, allowing two runs and a hit with a walk and a strikeout.
- Kameron Koch faced two batters in game two, allowing two runs and hits.
