CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Statesmen win game one of their series with Christian Brothers in dramatic fashion. Delta State erased a six-run deficit, scoring the last eight runs of the game, highlighted by
Dylan Dendy's go-ahead home run in the eighth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CBU picked up the first hit of the game, but the runner was picked off at first by pitcher Logan Eldridge. Brett Burrell drew an HBP in the bottom of the first. The Bucs picked up a hit in the second, but a double play ended the inning. Blayke Dendy singled with one out in the home half of the second and advanced to second on a passed ball. Hayden Cooper then doubled to score Dendy. 1-0 Delta State after two.
- Christian Brothers recorded a hit as Burrell drew a walk in the third. CBU scored seven runs on eight hits in the top of the fourth, including two home runs. Dylan Dendy reached in the bottom of the fourth and moved to second on a single by Blayke. Cooper singled in the following at-bat to score Dylan from second. 7-2 CBU after four.
- The Bucs went in order as Burrell inched the Statesmen closer with a solo home run in the fifth inning. CBU saw another baserunner get picked off at first in the top of the sixth. Cooper reached on a one-out error in the home sixth. He later stole second and scored on a single by Taylor Woodcock. Clay Cook drew a two-out walk to move Woodcock into scoring position just in time for an RBI single by Brendan McCauley. 7-5 CBU after six.
- CBU went in order, but the Statesmen stranded the bases loaded in the seventh inning. The Bucs left two on base in the eighth after a hit and a walk. Cook drew an HBP to start the home eighth and moved to second on a passed ball. Burrell singled to put runners at the corners with one out. Dylan Coleman then singled to score Cook and move Burrell to third. Dylan Dendy took the first pitch of the following at-bat over the right field wall for a three-run homer to give the Statesmen the lead. Noah Magee struck out three CBU batters in the ninth to seal the DSU win. 9-7 Delta State final.
On The Mound
- Starter Logan Eldridge pitched 3.2 innings, allowing six runs on nine hits with a strikeout.
- Brady Davis pitched the following 4.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits with 5 Ks and a walk.
- Noah Magee earned the win and pitched the final 1.1 innings. He faced five batters and allowed just one hit with four strikeouts
