Statesmen Basketball Drops GSC Tournament Game to West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Statesmen traveled to West Alabama Tuesday night for the first round of the GSC Tournament. Delta State claimed the five-seed for the GSC after Saturday's big win over top-seeded West Georgia.

The Tigers led 43-37 at the halftime break after shooting 58.3 percent from the field in the first twenty minutes. The Statesmen only turned the ball over seven times in that time, but the Tigers scored thirteen points off of the takeaways.

Delta State outshot UWA from the field in the second half, but the Tigers made all seventeen of their free-throw attempts in the second. The Statesmen were out-scored 47-42 in the second half, falling 90-79 for the game.

Keithean Brooks led all scorers for the game with 27 points. He hit 4 three-pointers, snagged 4 rebounds, and recorded 2 steals.
Kolby Horace finished with 19 points and hit 3 three-pointers. Chris Terrell finished with 14 points, and Maalik Cartwright had 9 points.
