VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Lady Statesmen fell in both games of Saturday's doubleheader at Valdosta State. Delta State held a lead going into the final inning of game two, but the Lady Blazers scored four runs on five hits in the frame to win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
- MyCala Helms drew a one-out walk but was the only DSU baserunner in the top of the first. The Blazers left two on base in the bottom of the first. Calli McConnell singled in the top of the second and was the only DSU baserunner. The Blazers plated three runs on one hit in the bottom of the second. 3-0 VSU after two.
- Delta State sent three to the plate in the third. Valdosta State loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the third and plated three more runs with no hits in the frame. 6-0 VSU after three.
- Helms drew a DSU walk in the top of the fourth. The Blazers scored another run after three hits in the bottom of the fourth. VSU also stranded the bases loaded. 7-0 VSU after four.
- Laney Daigrepont and Morgan Grubb picked up hits for the Lady Statesmen in the top of the fifth; Valdosta State left one on base. Delta State went in order in the top of the sixth; the Blazers left one on base after a hit. McConnell and Kyleigh Wheaton picked up hits for DSU in the top of the seventh. Daigrepont also reached on an error in the inning, but the Lady Statesmen could not plate a run. 7-0 VSU final.
Game Two
- Helms and Abbi Cataldo singled with one out in the top of the first. McConnell reached on a fielder's choice that saw Helms out at third. An error allowed Wheaton to reach base and advance to second as Cataldo and McConnell scored on the play. VSU left one on base after an error in the bottom of the first. 2-0 Delta State after one.
- The Lady Statesmen went in order in the top of the second; the Blazers stranded a leadoff walk in the inning. Helms drew a walk and Cataldo reached on an HBP with one out in the top of the third. Both runners advanced a base after a wild pitch and an HBP to McConnell loaded the bases. Wheaton reached on a fielder's choice, but Helms was out at home. The bases remained loaded with two outs as the next batter, Daigrepont, doubled to score all three baserunners. VSU tied the game up in the bottom of the third with five runs on three hits. Tied 5-5 after three.
- Raegan Stafford hit a leadoff single to start the fifth and later stole second in time to score on an RBI single by Helms. Cataldo then cranked a homer over the left-field wall to bring in Helms as well. The Blazers fell in order in the home half of the frame. 8-5 Delta State after four.
- Delta State went in order in the fifth; VSU left a runner on base after a one-out walk. The Lady Statesmen left one on base in the sixth after Stafford and Sydney Pevey reached on an error and a fielder's choice, respectively. The Blazers left one on base after a hit in the bottom of the sixth. 8-5 Delta State after six.
- Wheaton was left on base in the top of the seventh after a one out single. The Blazers put together five hits, including a game-winning two-RBI single as they plated four runs in the final frame. 9-8 VSU final.
ON THE MOUND
- Game one starter Audry Rumsey pitched 2.1 innings, allowing six runs on one hit. She struck out three VSU batters and walked six.
- Yazmin Jackson pitched 3.2 innings in game one, allowing one run on four hits with a strikeout and four walks.
- Emma Enderud pitched all 6.2 innings for the Lady Statesmen in game two, allowing nine runs on nine hits. She struck out six batters and walked seven.
