CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Statesmen recorded eleven hits in Friday's series opener at Lee, but the tenth-ranked Flames were victorious in game one. Delta State's four pitchers used threw a combined 10 strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both sides went in order in the first inning, including DSU starter Logan Eldridge tossing the first strikeout of the game in the bottom of the first. Hayden Cooper and Dylan Dendy recorded the first two hits of the game in the top of the second; the Flames scored the first two runs of the game on four hits in the bottom of the second. 2-0 Lee after two.
- Wes Warnock and Brett Burrell also recorded hits for the Statesmen in the top of the third. The Flames hit three one-out singles to load the bases in the home half of the third, followed by two more hits to bring the first three runners in. 5-0 Lee after three.
- Dendy picked up another hit in the top of the fourth as the Flames stranded the bases loaded with no hits in their half of the frame. Each side went again in order in the fifth as Eldridge recorded two more Ks. Dylan Coleman put the Statesmen on the board in the top of the sixth with a one-out solo homer to left. The Flames responded with three runs on three hits and an error in the bottom of the sixth. 8-1 Lee after six.
- DSU sent three to the plate in the top of the seventh; a one-out triple came around to score for the Flames in the bottom of the seventh. Brendan McCauley drew a one-out walk in the top of the eighth and moved to second after a two-out single by Coleman. Cooper hit an RBI single in the following AB to score McCauley. 9-2 Lee after eight.
- Triston Hickman drew a walk to start the ninth and moved to third after a double by Taylor Woodcock. Warnock then singled to score the pair with no outs in the frame. A McCauley groundout moved Warnock over to second, then Burrell and Coleman were walked to load the bases. Cooper doubled in the following plate appearance, scoring Warnock and Burrell on the play while also moving Coleman to third with one out. However, the Flames would make one last pitching change before getting the final two outs to secure their win. 9-6 Lee final.
On The Mound
- Starter Logan Eldridge pitched 5.0 innings, allowing eight runs on ten hits. He also struck out six batters with four walks.
- Kameron Koch pitched 1.1 innings, allowing one run and two hits with a strikeout and a walk.
- Hammer Franks faced two batters on Friday night.
- Jackson Wilson pitched 1.1 innings, striking out three of the four batters he faced.
