CLEVELAND, Miss. - Â The Delta State University football team will report to camp tomorrow afternoon and hold their first practice in Parker Field at McCool Stadium on Monday, August 5. All of the team's practices are open to the public with free admission and are held from August 5-24 with the practices from August 5-19 being held at 9:30 a.m. CDT. A daily schedule is listed below.

The 2024 campaign for the Statesmen football begins on Thursday August 29th, at 6:00 p.m. (CDT) the Statesmen will kick off their season as they travel to Mars Hill to face the Lions of Mars Hill University for the first time ever. On the following week, the Statesmen will return home for the 2024 Pig Pickin' Game on Saturday September 7, as they host the Miners of Missouri S&T. On September 14th at 2:00 p.m. (CDT), Delta State will travel back to North Carolina to face the Bulldogs of Wingate University for the first ever matchup in the history of both programs. The Statesmen will finish off their non-conference slate as the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University will come to McCool Stadium for a 6:00 p.m., kickoff on September 21st.

The Statesmen start their 2024 Gulf South Conference schedule as they go on the first of two road trips to South Carolina to face GSC newcomer Erskine on September 28th. That game will be played at J.W. Babb Stadium on the campus of Greenwood High School. The Statesmen will have three home conference games in the 2024 campaign starting with their GSC home opener on Saturday October 5th as the Hawks of Chowan come to town. The Statesmen will host West Alabama on October 19th. This year's Homecoming contest will be on Saturday November 9th as the Statesmen will host their final home game of the regular season against the Blazers of Valdosta State University. The final contest of the 2024 regular season will be the battle for the Heritage Bell as Delta State travels to Clinton to take on Mississippi College.
