PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Delta State University Women's Soccer Team (1-2-2, 0-1-1 GSC) fell on the road to the 23
rd ranked Argonauts of the University of West Florida by a 3-0 score Sunday (Sept. 22) afternoon.
The Lady Statesmen managed two shots on goal, one coming from
Chloe Colquhoun and
Vanessa Mendiola. Senior
Olivia Griffin had three saves in 90 minutes of action.
The Argonauts would take a 1-0 lead with 42:07 left in the first half. The Lady Statesmen would manage to stay within a goal with UWF for much of the contest, despite the hosts maintaining a 17-2 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in shots on target.
The Argonauts (4-1-1, 2-0 GSC) would pull away with goals coming on the 71
st and the 85
th minute.
The Lady Statesmen continue GSC play as they will head to Memphis next Friday (Sept. 27) to take on Christian Brothers. The Friday match will kick off at 5:00 p.m., (CDT).
