CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Men's Basketball Team (7-10, 3-8 GSC) look to add on to last weekend's win over Mississippi College with a two-game home stretch this weekend against the Buccaneers of Christian Brothers University and the Bulldogs from Union University.
The Statesmen will face Christian Brothers Thursday, Jan. 23 evening at 7:30 p.m., (CDT) on Lloyd Clark Court in Walter Sillers Coliseum. Following that, DSU will face Union Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. (CDT).

Scouting the Statesmen
- Delta State enters this weekend after snapping a six-game losing streak with a 62-54 win against Mississippi College last Saturday in Walter Sillers Coliseum.
- Senior point guard Chris Terrell enters this weekend leading the nation in steals with 65 this season. The Horn Lake native leads all Statesmen scorers averaging 21 points per game in 17 starts for the green and white. Against MC last weekend, Terrell scored 20 points, dished out seven assists and collected four steals.
- Against the Choctaws last Saturday, junior guard Kolby Horace scored 18 points in the win as he knocked down four shots from behind the arch marking the most threes made since the season opener at LeMoyne-Owen. Horace averages 12.8 points per game this season. Horace scored 24 point the last time Delta State played CBU in Memphis in early December.
Scouting the Buccaneers
- Christian Brothers enters this weekend with a 7-10 overall record and a 3-8 record in conference play. Last week, the Buccaneers went 0-2 in their two-game home stretch with Trevecca Nazarene and Lee. Last time Delta State played CBU, the Statesmen outscored the Bucs 47-31 enroot to their 86-75 win in Canale Arena.
- Last weekend, the Buccaneers have got production from junior guard Tane Kirisome. Kirisome averaged 19 points per game in the two matchups last weekend. Against TNU, Kirisome led all CBU scorers with 20 points and dished out four assists.
- In the loss vs. Lee, senior forward Christian Thompson led the way for the Buccaneers. The Lonoke, Ark., native collected a double-double scoring a season-high 22 points and grabbing a season-high 17 rebounds.
Scouting the Bulldogs
- Union enters this weekend on a three-game winning streak against West Florida, Lee, and Trevecca Nazarene. Last time the Statesmen faced the Bulldogs, Delta State forced 22 turnovers but Union prevailed with an 83-68 win in Fred DeLay Gymnasium in Jackson, Tenn.
- The Bulldogs are led by graduate guard C.J. Jackson. The Atlanta native leads all Bulldog scorers, averaging 18.5 points per game. Against the Statesmen, Jackson scored a season-high 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the early December win.
- Sophomore forward Parker Applegate has been the force for the Bulldog front court this season. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native averages near a double-double per game with 13.2 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game. Applegate had a double-double scoring 15 points and pulling down 13 rebounds in the early December win for the Bulldogs.
