CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Men's Basketball Team (9-10, 5-8 GSC) will look to add on to their three-game winning streak as they travel to Alabama this weekend to play the Warhawks from Auburn University at Montgomery, and the Falcons from the University of Montevallo.
The Statesmen will start with the Warhawks this evening at 7:30 p.m., (CDT) in the AUM Athletics Complex. Following that, DSU will travel to Montevallo to face the Falcons on Saturday at 4:00 p.m., (CDT).

Scouting the Statesmen
- Delta State enters this weekend on a three-game winning streak with wins against Mississippi College, Christian Brothers and Union. Last time out, the Statesmen shut down the Bulldogs forcing Union to shoot 37.7% from the field in a 69-59 win.
- Last week, senior guard Keithean Brooks was the key on the offensive end for the green and white. The Walls native averaged 26.5 points per game along with his season-high 32-point performance against Christian Brothers on Thursday night. Against Union, Brooks shined on both sides of the ball, scoring 21 points while blocking two shots and adding two steals.
- Senior point guard Chris Terrell still is the leading scorer for Delta State going into this weekend. The Horn Lake native averages 20.9 points per game and leads the nation with 75 steals, averaging 3.95 per game. Last time against Auburn-Montgomery and Montevallo Terrell became the GSC and the NABC National Player of the Week after scoring his career-high 42 points against the Warhawks.
Scouting the Warhawks
- Auburn Montgomery enters this weekend with an 8-10 overall record and a 5-8 record in GSC play. The Warhawks are on a three-game losing streak against Valdosta State, Lee, and Trevecca Nazarene. Last time these two met, The Warhawks had 15 points and nine rebounds off the bench from Trent Coleman but it wasn't enough as DSU won 92-80 in December.
- AUM's frontcourt is led by graduate forward Malachi Rhodes, the McNeese State transfer averages 12.9 points per game and 7.8 rebounds. Against DSU, Rhodes had five points and five rebounds.
- An impact player from the December matchup for AUM was sophomore guard Paul Lanzi. The Birmingham native scored 14 points off the bench for the Warhawks against DSU. Lanzi also averages 12.9 points per game for the Orange and Black.
Scouting the Falcons
- Montevallo enters this weekend with a 12-7 overall record and is 8-5 in GSC play. Last time out, the Falcons snapped a three-game skid with a 58-50 win against Lee in Cleveland, Tenn., last Saturday. Last time against DSU, Montevallo won 89-81. The Falcons took care of the ball as they are the lone team DSU had forced less than 10 turnovers against.
- UM is led by sophomore guard Brandon Fussell, the Guntersville, Ala., native averages 17.1 points per game and averages 3.5 assists per game. Against DSU in December, Fussell led all scorers with 24 points and had three steals in UM's win.
- The Front Court made an impact for Montevallo in December. Juniors Jaylen Curry and Derek Moore made impacts for Montevallo throughout the season. Curry averages 16.2 points per game and pulls down 6.3 rebounds per game. In December, Curry had 18 points and nine rebounds. Moore is the third Falcon to average double digit scoring. The Birmingham native averages 13.2 points per game and pulls down 5.8 rebounds per game. Against DSU, Moore had 17 points and seven rebounds.
