CLINTON, Miss. – The Delta State University men's soccer team fell 3-1 to Mississippi College in a GSC match at Robert P. Longabaugh Field Friday afternoon.
The Statesmen struck early in the second half when
Andrew Dunn buried his first goal of the season in the 47th minute, pulling Delta State level at 1-1.
Goalkeeper
Mason Baglio turned in a strong performance between the posts, collecting three saves against a relentless Choctaw attack that fired 21 shots on the afternoon. Defensively,
Dyvenson Decime,
Logan Funk, and
Santi Rossi anchored the back line, keeping the match tight until the final minutes.
Delta State showed flashes of its attacking depth with quality chances from
Braden Taylor,
Elijah Belk, and
Alfie Lally, who each tested the MC keeper. The Statesmen also earned multiple corner kicks in the second half, pushing forward in search of another equalizer.
The Statesmen have a week off before continuing GSC play with a road trip to Livingston, Ala., to take on the Tigers from the University of West Alabama on Friday (Oct. 17) at 7:30 p.m. (CDT).
