Second Half Surge Sparks Statesmen's 75-68 win against Ouachita Baptist

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Men's Basketball team (3-2, 0-0 GSC) stormed back from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat Ouachita Baptist 75–68 on Saturday afternoon inside Walter Sillers Coliseum.

After trailing 36–28 at the break, the Statesmen caught fire offensively, pouring in 47 points over the final 20 minutes. Je'Marion Westbrook led the charge with a Statesmen career-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including three timely three-pointers and a strong presence on the boards with seven rebounds.

Delta State connected on 10 total threes in the game, receiving important perimeter contributions from Bryce Clayton and DaCory Porter. Clayton finished with 12 points and went 2-for-3 from deep, while Porter added 14 points and knocked down a pair of big threes during the second-half surge. Elisha Puckett chipped in six points and four rebounds while providing a steady defensive presence.

The Statesmen also received a valuable lift from their bench, particularly from Brendan Braddix, who scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in key moments that helped stabilize Delta State's momentum. The DSU reserves outscored the Ouachita bench 15–13, supplying crucial depth as the game tightened late.

Delta State asserted itself on the boards throughout the contest, winning the rebounding battle 37–24 and pulling down an impressive 15 offensive rebounds. Those second-chance opportunities proved instrumental, especially as the Statesmen's shooting sharpened in the second half. DSU also converted 19 of 26 free throws, capitalizing on the Tigers' 19 fouls to keep control in the final minutes.

Delta State now turns its attention to the start of Gulf South Conference play, aiming to build on the momentum sparked by Saturday's comeback win in Cleveland as they face the Bulldogs from Union University Thursday night in Walter Sillers Coliseum.
