TYLER, Texas – The Delta State University Women's Tennis Team (0-2, 0-0 GSC) fell in a tight battle against the Falcons of the University of Texas Permian Basin (1-1, 0-0 LSC) Sunday afternoon at Tyler Junior College.
 
Freshman Elena Palioura continues her hot start as a Lady Statesmen as no. 1 doubles team of Palioura, and Yasmina Mayer helped get Delta State a point in doubles competition with a 6-3 win. The team of Angie Moreno and Lara Torres won the no. 2 doubles match 6-4.
 
In singles action, Palioura won the no. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-1. Moreno also collected a point in singles action winning in straight sets 6-4,6-1 in the no. 4 singles match.
 
The Lady Statesmen finish their trip to Texas tomorrow afternoon as they will face the Patriots from the University of Texas at Tyler.
