No. 19 Statesmen Bats Stay alive in a 11-0 win Against OBU

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Baseball Team (12-3, 6-0 GSC) scored double digit runs for the fourth straight game in their 11-0 run rule win against the Tigers from Ouachita Baptist University Tuesday afternoon in Harvey Stadium at Ferriss Field.

The Statesmen top of the order was on a roll as the 1,2,3 hitters went 9-12 with seven RBIs, led by Brett Burrell's 3-3 day with a three-run home run to end the game.

On the mound, the Statesmen got a solid start from Freshman Aidan McCrady. The Eads, Tenn., native threw four innings striking out five batters and allowing only one hit. Jackson Wilson threw two innings, striking out three Tigers in relief to earn the win.

Delta State got on the board in the bottom of the second with a Jacob Hill rbi single, followed by Peyton Badon scoring on a passed ball making it 2-0.

Two innings later, Bo Rock would extend the lead on a single through the right side, scoring Wes Warnock to make it 3-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Delta State would explode for five runs starting with a lead off towering home run from Tristan Hickman to make it 4-0. Three batters later, with the bases loaded, Warnock pulled a line drive to right field scoring two runs to extend the lead to 6-0. Warnock would wreak havoc on the basepaths stealing second and forcing an errant throw to drive in the fourth run of the inning making it 7-0. On the same at-bat Burrell would drive home Warnock to make it 8-0.

In the bottom of the seventh, after a Matthew Martinolich double and Warnock single, Burrell would send the crowd home happy with a three-run blast to left center field putting the Statesmen ahead 11-0.

Delta State looks to keep momentum rolling as they travel to Pensacola, Fla., this weekend for a three-game series with the Argonauts from the University of West Florida.
