PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Delta State University Softball team (8-5, 4-3 GSC) fell on the road in a double header to the Argonauts from the University of West Florida (13-6, 6-2 GSC) this afternoon in Pensacola.
 
The Lady Statesmen battled but fell 7-5 in game one. In game two West Florida won 11-2.
 
Game One
The Lady Statesmen got a hit from seven different players in game one's 7-5 loss. In the circle, 
Emma Enderud went the distance, throwing six innings and striking out two batters.
 
Going into the top of the fourth down 4-0, the Lady Statesmen would add a run from a rbi single from 
Rylee Leonard to cut the deficit to 4-1.
 
In the next inning, 
Mattie Granberry would hit her second home run of the season with a two-run blast over the left field fence to make it 4-3.
 
West Florida answered to Delta State's three unanswered runs with three of their own to extend the lead to 7-3.
 
In the top of the seventh, Delta State would cut the UWF lead to two runs on a fielding error that would score two runs to make it 7-5.
 
Game Two
Delta State took an early lead in the first inning in game two before falling to the Argonauts 11-2 in five innings.
 
The Lady Statesmen got a rbi single from 
Bailey Way to make the game 1-0 early on. Two batters later, 
Emma Collier would take a single through the right side, scoring Way to make it 2-0.
 
After cutting the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the first, West Florida would score five runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to take a 11-2 lead.
 
The Two teams are back on the diamond tomorrow for the third and final game of the series in the afternoon at 1:00 p.m. (CDT).
