Lady Statesmen Drop third game to Argonauts

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Delta State University Softball Team (8-6, 4-4 GSC) fell to the Argonauts from the University of West Florida (14-6, 7-2 GSC) 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Pensacola.
 
In the circle, Ellie Cox got the start as she threw 3.1 innings forcing seven groundouts and striking out one argonaut.
 
At the plate, Averi Ragsdale went 1-2 on the afternoon.
 
The Lady Statesmen and the Argonauts battled in a pitchers dual as both teams would be scoreless before West Florida would add a run in the bottom of the fifth and sixth to take a 2-0 lead.
 
In the top of the seventh Delta State would get the tying run at the plate as West Florida would hold on to a 2-0 win.
 
Delta State will be back at University Field as they host Henderson State in a midweek non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The game one first pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. (CDT).
