CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Men's Tennis Team (2-5, 0-1 GSC) fell to the visiting Muleriders from Southern Arkansas University (4-3, 0-0 GAC) 4-3 this afternoon on the tennis courts at the Cleveland Country Club.
The Statesmen earned a point as they took two of three doubles matches as the no 2 team of
Harry Browning and
Andrej Komnenic won 7-5. The No. 3 team of
Jacob Lubbe and
Tom Rance won 6-3.
In singles action,
Hector Ortiz won the no. 1 singles match, defeating the no. 56 ranked Tim Fischer in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
Battling against the wind, Browning won the no. 3 singles match in exciting fashion against SAU's David Wallechner (6-2, 1-6, 6-2).
The Statesmen will hit the road on Friday, March 7, as they will go to Searcy, Ark., to take on the Bisons from Harding University. Friday's match is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
