CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Tennis Team (0-6, 0-1 GSC) fell to the Muleriders from Southern Arkansas University (3-4, 0-0 GAC) 4-1 this afternoon at the Cleveland Country Club.
The Lady Statesmen earned the doubles point as the no. 1 doubles team of
Elena Palioura and
Yasmina Mayer won 6-4. The no. 2 doubles pair
Angie Moreno and
Lara Torres won 6-4. In no. 3 doubles, the team of
Maria Caride and
Cameron Jacob were up 5-4 when the doubles point was clinched.
Mayer and Caride would battle in singles action, going three sets. Caride fell in the no. 2 singles match (7-5, 4-6, 5-7). Mayer fell in no. 3 match (4-6, 7-6, 4-6). In no. 5 singles, Torres was ahead (6-2, 0-1) once the match was clinched.
The Lady Statesmen hit the road Friday, March 7 as they will take on the Lady Bisons from Harding University. Friday's match will start at 3:00 p.m. (CDT)
