CLINTON, Miss. – The Delta State University Baseball Team (32-14, 23-8 GSC) fell in the series opener against the Choctaws from Mississippi College (29-19, 19-12 GSC) 7-4 this evening at Frierson Field in Clinton.
The Statesmen got off to an electric start with a three-run first inning from a three-run home run from
Dylan Dendy to give Delta State a 3-0 lead.
MC would respond with three runs in the bottom of the first to even the game up at 3-3.
The Statesmen and Choctaws would exchange five scoreless innings before MC took a 7-3 lead with three runs in the sixth and a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Delta State would respond with a run in the top of the eighth as
Dylan Coleman would connect with his 12
th home run on the season with a solo home run to cut the Statesmen's deficit to 7-4.
The two teams will finish the three-game series and their regular seasons tomorrow afternoon at Frierson field with a double header starting at 1:00 p.m. (CDT). The pre-game show on the Statesmen Sports Network will start at 12:30 p.m. (CDT).
