CLINTON, Miss. – The Delta State University Baseball Team (32-16, 23-10 GSC) fell in a double header to the Choctaws from Mississippi College (31-19, 21-12 GSC) this afternoon at Frierson Field.
The Statesmen clinched the 2025 GSC Regular Season Championship with West Florida Sweeping Valdosta State in their double header in Valdosta.
GAME ONE
The Statesmen used the long ball with home runs from
Brett Burrell and
Dylan Dendy in game one.
In the top of the fifth, Burrell would hit a 2-1 pitch the other way over the right center field fence to make it 5-1.
Two innings later,
Dylan Dendy would make it a three-run game with a solo home run on a 2-1 count to make it 5-2.
The Choctaws took game one with a 10-2 final score.
GAME TWO
Burrell would go 3-3 in game two for the Statesmen, concluding the day going 4-7 at the plate with a rbi.
In the top of the fourth, back-to-back hits from Burrell and
Dylan Coleman would lead to a rbi single from Dendy.
The Choctaws took game two by a 23-1 final score.
The Statesmen will be back in action next Friday as they will the face the eight seed in the GSC Championship Tournament at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala. The first pitch next Friday is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. (CDT)
